Michael B. Jordan Confesses: The One Thing He Couldn’t Handle on Sinners Set

So apparently Michael B. Jordan and fake blood – Not besties, basis what happened in Sinners.

While shooting Sinners, his gritty new vampire flick with Ryan Coogler, things got a little too sticky, literally. The movie’s packed with old-school horror vibes, set in 1930s Mississippi, and Michael’s pulling double duty as twin brothers named Smoke and Stack. But behind the scenes, the real drama wasn’t about monsters or mayhem. It was about the blood. So. Much. Blood.

“I liked the fangs. Fangs were dope,” Michael said. “The blood? Not so much.”

And apparently, he wasn’t just making casual comments. Things got to the point where producers legit held a meeting to discuss how much he hated it. Coogler says his wife (and producer), Zinzi, pulled him aside like, “Hey, we gotta talk about Mike.” And when Coogler asked what was up, she hit him with: “The blood. He doesn’t like it.”

Michael swears he wasn’t complaining, just “venting.” Same thing, right?

“I appreciate the meeting,” he joked, clearly knowing how dramatic it sounds. But honestly? Can you blame him? The blood was EVERYWHERE.

His costars Hailee Steinfeld and Wunmi Mosaku backed him up. “It was very sticky,” Steinfeld said. “The makeup crew had to keep spraying our hands apart because they’d get stuck together.” Wunmi added, “You just have to get really comfortable with being uncomfortable.”

On top of that, they were filming in the sweaty heat of Louisiana, in thick, old-school costumes. So yeah, gross. But according to Wunmi, Michael kept his cool the whole time. “He doesn’t complain. He just sits there in those hot suits like, ‘There’s nothing we can do, let’s just get through it.’”

Except… when it came to bugs. That was the one thing nobody could be chill about.

So why did Michael even sign on to a full-on vampire movie if he’s squeamish about horror stuff? Turns out, he used to hate horror.

“I thought maybe if I was in one and saw how it all works, I’d stop being freaked out,” he said. “And yeah… I actually like them more now.”

Sinners is the latest in a long line of Michael B. Jordan x Ryan Coogler team-ups, these two go way back with Fruitvale Station, Creed, and Black Panther. But this one? Way darker. Way messier. Way bloodier.

And it’s in theaters now if you’re into steamy vampire chaos and don’t mind a few buckets of fake blood.

Be honest, would you survive one take on a vampire set dripping in fake blood, heat, and bugs? Or would you be pulling a Michael B. Jordan and secretly begging for a shower?
