New Delhi, India — Authorities have launched an urgent investigation after a disturbing report surfaced involving the alleged gang rape of a foreign female tourist by seven men in India, sparking widespread outrage and renewed concerns over women’s safety in the country.
According to initial reports from local police, the incident occurred earlier this week in a region that remains unnamed for the protection of the victim. The woman, whose identity and nationality have not been disclosed, was reportedly traveling alone when she was approached by a group of men under the pretense of offering help.
Police say the suspects allegedly lured the tourist to a remote location, where they then assaulted her in turns. The woman later managed to contact local authorities and is currently under medical care and trauma support.
“This is a deeply disturbing and unacceptable incident,” said a senior official from the state’s police department. “We have identified several suspects and are actively pursuing all leads.”
As of now, four out of the seven suspects have been detained, while a manhunt is underway for the remaining individuals. Law enforcement is also examining surveillance footage and interviewing witnesses in the area.
