Chicago P.D.’s Marina Squerciati Teases Burzek Wedding with Bridal Shopping Spree — and Asks Fans to ‘Help Me Choose’

The star said she’s “genuinely torn” between several wedding gowns ahead of her character Kim Burgess’ long-awaited nuptials to Adam Ruzek

With Chicago P.D.’s resident on-off couple officially “on,” so is the hunt for the perfect wedding dress!

Last month, in season 11, episode 3 of the NBC drama, Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) proposed to Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati) — for the third time! — and she said “yes.” Now, Squerciati, 40, is in search of the perfect gown for the moment the characters finally say “I do,” and she’s letting fans in on the action.

In an Instagram post shared on Wednesday, Feb. 26, the actress revealed that she went shopping for Burgess’ wedding look at Grace Loves Lace in Chicago and included several dress options she is supposedly choosing from.

“I’m stupidly excited for this wedding,” Squerciati wrote in the caption before instructing her onscreen fiancé to, in traditional bride-groom fashion, avoid looking at her in any of the dresses. “YES, I KNOW IT’S FOR TV,” she wrote, “BUT PADDY DO NOT LOOK AT THIS POST! 🙈.”

The Chicago P.D. star also asked fans for help selecting her character’s dress, writing, “Can you all help me choose? I’m genuinely torn. I’d like to know what you like.”

“More later!” she teasingly wrapped the caption before adding several wedding-related hashtags, including Ruzek and Burgess’s ship name (“#burzek”) and “#againiknowitsTVjustletmehavemymoment.”

In the post, Squerciati showed off four different bridal looks, starting with a silky, high-neck gown. Next, she posed in a lacy, long-sleeve gown with a plunging neckline and long train, which appeared to be the clear front-runner among the star’s fans.

“The second is perfect!” the most-liked comment on her post read. Other top comments echoed the sentiment. “The second one, definitively! 😍,” one person wrote, while another said, “Definitely the second one 😍.”

Squerciati’s third potential bridal look for Burgess was a simple, strappy gown with a long train, while the final dress in the post was another lacy option: a semi-sheer gown with floral details on the top and a flounce skirt.

The star also showed off an additional option in an Instagram Stories post. “Shopping for my wedding dresses for Chicago PD,” she wrote over footage of a different Chicago bridal shop, Mira Couture. “I was asked to find a LOW KEY dress…”

And, in the next post, she showed a photo of herself in a not-so-low-key look — a ballerina-like minidress and crown to accessorize. “NAILED IT,” she joked alongside the snap. “MAYBE NO TIARA TO COMPRIMISE?”

Squerciati’s behind-the-scenes look at shopping for Burgess’ bridal look is a welcome one for fans of the show — especially because the series likely won’t show much of the couple’s wedding planning, the actress previously told PEOPLE.

“It doesn’t seem like the tone of CPD,” she admitted after Burzek’s engagement last month. “It seems more like [Chicago Fire]. If we do a crossover with Fire, maybe I might get in a wedding dress.”

Fans of the show are also reminded of Chicago Fire amid the Burzek wedding hype, with one stating in a comment on Squerciati’s post that they are “having flashbacks to when we picked out brettsey’s wedding dress 🥹.”

The fan was of course referring to the long-awaited wedding between Fire‘s Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer) and Matt Casey (Jesse Spencer) last year, for which Killmer, 36, also went dress shopping in a process she described to PEOPLE as “so fun.”

“It was like Say Yes to the Dress,” she told PEOPLE of the bridal shopping process. “The resounding feedback was to choose the one that we landed on. It’s very Sylvie. It’s very wistful and romantic, and the flowers are very spring-like.”
