Jacob Elordi, the 27-year-old actor known for his roles in Euphoria and Saltburn, has opened up about how he landed the iconic role of Heathcliff in the upcoming Wuthering Heights adaptation.

Instead of auditioning, Elordi was offered the part via a simple text from Saltburn director Emerald Fennell.
Elordi had been planning to take a break from acting, but Fennell’s text about the role of Heathcliff opposite Margot Robbie’s Catherine Earnshaw was an offer he couldn’t refuse. Elordi told IndieWire, “I was really lucky. I was going to take a break for a while, and then Emerald just very simply texted me, and you can’t run from that text.”
The actor is clearly excited about working with Robbie, who is also producing the film under her LuckyChap production company. Elordi praised Robbie’s performance, saying, “She’s incredible in the film, she’s a livewire. I’m so, so excited for people to see it. She’s a beautiful actor and she gave so, so much.”

The film will also star Shazad Latif as Edgar Linton, Hong Chau as Nelly Dean, and Saltburn co-star Alison Oliver as Isabella Linton. This marks the third collaboration between Fennell and LuckyChap, following Saltburn and Promising Young Woman.
Wuthering Heights is set to be released in February 2026. Fennell shared on social media last year that it would be her third feature film, quoting a line from the novel: “Be with me always – take any form – drive me mad.”
Actor Barry Keoghan, who starred alongside Elordi in Saltburn, has expressed interest in joining the Wuthering Heights cast. He told Variety, “Anything that Emerald puts her hands on, I’m there. She’s incredible.”

Robbie also spoke highly of Fennell’s filmmaking, saying, “Emerald immerses you into a world so quickly. She’s so masterful at tone and plot. She gets in your brain and she kind of taps into the most depraved parts of it, so that you’re complicit in the story.”
