LAUDERDALE LAKES, Fla. – A South Florida animal rescue is offering a $10,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest in a disturbing animal abuse case involving a female black Giant Schnauzer named Bibi.
Employees with Big Dog Ranch Rescue said Bibi was brought in by the Broward County Animal Care and Adoption Division on April 3 after being found in the 4500 block of Northwest 36th Street in Lauderdale Lakes.
They said Bibi was severely emaciated and suffering from multiple injuries, including broken ribs, damage to her spine and hips, and extreme malnourishment. She currently cannot stand or walk without help, according to BDRR.
“This is the worst case of animal cruelty we’ve ever seen yet,” said Big Dog Ranch Rescue founder Lauree Simmons. “All signs point to animal abuse. This was definitely not related to a car accident and the abuser must be caught and prevented from doing this to other animals.”
The rescue organization has launched a “Justice for Bibi” campaign and is working closely with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to find the person responsible.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Big Dog Ranch Rescue at 561-791-6465 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
“Big Dog Ranch Rescue was founded in 2008 and today has saved the lives of more than 75,000 dogs,” the organization stated in a news release on Thursday. “Their mission is to heal and place them with loving families, to educate people about the proper care of dogs and the importance of spaying and neutering. Big Dog Ranch Rescue works diligently on rescue, rehabilitation and education. The goal is to end dog homelessness and abuse.”
